Regional Family Leadership and Support Initiative
Under the leadership of the
Statewide Family Leadership Coordinator, and in collaboration with the Family
Advocacy Communication and Education (FACE) Committee, the Illinois Children’s
Mental Health Partnership (ICMHP) has implemented a Family Leadership and
Support Initiative across the state of Illinois to build the infrastructure
necessary to assure coordination of current family support activities, increase
awareness of available services and supports, and provide greater opportunities
for family leadership. The statewide and regional family leadership and support
coordinators are parents with lived experience and a shared passion to provide
support and guidance through a united family voice for children’s mental health.
The mission of the Regional Family
Leadership Initiative is the active engagement of parents and caregivers in all
aspects of promoting their child’s optimal social and emotional development and
overall mental health.
Services we provide:
- Regional
parent/caregiver led R.E.S.T. groups that offer resources, education, support
& training and the opportunity to connect with other parents and caregivers
who are or have experienced similar situations.
- Resources and
support to parents, caregivers, and transitional age young adults to recognize
and understand children’s mental health and/or navigate the complexities of the
mental health system.
- Outreach and
training to parents, caregivers and professionals to promote
family and youth guided leadership.
- Establish
collaborations with multi-system local, regional, and state organizations,
schools, and family/caregiver initiatives to improve the quality of and access
to mental health programs, services and supports for families and children.
