Region 2

Coalition Partners

Region 2 is comprised of 17 counties throughout Northern Illinois. The Family Leadership Action Network (FLAN) involves parents and providers that are committed to increasing family engagement, training and support. The objective of the FLAN is to create parent directed community coalitions in the Northern region that facilitate parent leadership, support, training and resources.

Partners in Region 2 understand the need for cross-sectional collaboration. The collaboration in the Region is strengthened by the commitment of the following partners: Mildred Berry Center, NAMI Northern Illinois, Ben Gordon Center, NAMI DeKalb, Kane & Kendall, Prevent Child Abuse Illinois, Lake County Health Department, NAMI DuPage, Illinois State Board of Education – Parent & Educator Partnership, Support & Technical Assistance Regional Network (STARNET), Illinois Children’s Mental Health Partnership – Social Emotional Learning Initiative, All Our Kids (AOK) Network – Will County, Streamwood Behavioral Health, Families Etc., Illinois Department of Mental Health – Family Consumer Specialists, DeKalb County Partnership for a Safe Active & Family Environment (DCP/Safe), Illinois Federation of Families, Illinois PTA, and the Glenwood Center.

Regional Plan 

The Family Leadership Action Network in Region 2 meets monthly at rotating regional venues. The Leadership Network has recognized five sites throughout the Region to develop parent coalitions. The Leadership Network realizes the significant need for access to regional resources and is currently developing an online resource directory. (View Region 2 Family Leadership Action Plan)

Key Activities

• Developing & coordinating parent support in the MHJJ system

• Collaborating with other statewide initiatives to increase parent awareness and conduct parent trainings.

• Working in collaboration with regional NAMI affiliates to increase awareness across the region.
