Consultation Work Group

The Consultation Work Group was formed in January 2008 to provide leadership in implementing mental health consultation efforts for children and youth ages 0-21 years, as well as determining how consultation efforts can strengthen the children's mental health workforce.

Accomplishments:

  • Helping identify gaps in overall consultation initiatives (e.g., consultation to schools and school systems) and strategies for addressing these gaps.

  • Identifying and promoting strategies for enhancing workforce development

  • Helping establish quality standards (e.g., core competencies of consultants) across consultation models.

  • Looking for a structural way to systematically address consultation in key child-serving systems

Current Activities:

  • Identifying models for providing consultation to school-age children within education and primary care settings

  • Identifying and promoting strategies for enhancing workforce development

  • Looking for a structural way to systematically address consultation in key child-serving systems
